Dada Life – Control @ Avalon 06.25.11

Last night was absolutely nuts. In case you missed it, Dada Life was in town for a sold out show put on by Control @ Avalon Hollywood. Yours truly was onstage with the boys pumping up the crowd as the Official Dada Life Banana. These guys truly know how to bring the noise. Endless bangers and crazy onstage antics... they really put on a show. Who needs EDC when you got this going on in LA. Here are some highlights of the night.
Enjoy!

CHECK THIS

Sickkkkk video of Zeds Dead absolutely murdering their set at 420 Festival this past April, I wonder what they can do in a 45 minute set....

Catch them this Saturday at EDC. BassPod stage 3:30-4:15am.

Tommie Sunshine & Mightyfools

Remember when bands like Fall Out Boy dominated the musical mind's of our pre-teen adolescence? Been a long time, but it all comes back with this huuuge remix of 'I don't Care' pieced together by Tommie Sunshine and the Mightyfools. I'm not normally one for these sorts of vocals, but this track is phat and catchy (the beat is groovy and the drop circa 1:40 is almost too much) - so much so, that it deserves to be brought to your attention. Enjoy the shit out of this people!

H-H-H-HARDWELLLLL

One of my favorite producers and 100% atop my list for this weekend, the 23 year old Dutchman has been producing and DJing since he was 13 and it shows in every way possible. First discovered by Tiesto, Hardwell's been absolutely killing the game with no shortage of original tracks, remixes, and bootlegs, including his ever famous bootleg of Steve Angello's "Be" and Robin S' "Show Me Love". This weekend will actually be his first time hitting the decks in the US and A, as he'll be hitting both East and West coast spots. It was actually pretty difficult deciding which tracks to post so here's a whole pack for your ears. See you Saturday 11 PM-12 AM at the Neon Garden, Mr. Van De Corput!

Oh and if you're skipping out on Vegas and will be in the LA area this weekend, Hardwell will be taking over the Avalon this Friday at Control alongside none other than Stefan Englom and Olle Corneér, better known as Dada Life. Sure to be one hell of a show, catch your tix here.

Alesso

The kid is only 18 years old, but with support from big name artists such as Avicii, Guetta, and Erick Morillo he's already gained recognition worldwide and will be playing twice on two different stages this weekend. Ever since I first heard his remix of Nadia Ali's "Pressure," I've been hooked onto his tracks. Check out at least one of his sets, either Saturday at Cosmic Meadow from 8-9 PM or the mainstage Kinetic Field 12:30-1 AM Sunday. If you have any doubts check out all the tracks below, each one will convince you further and further.

Switching it up a lil bit, this weekend in Vegas also features some of the best trance artists from around the world, including the German born Cosmic Gate. The duo that brought us one of the all-time classics "Exploration Of Space," Claus Terhoeven (aka Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (DJ Bossi) always put on an epic show and yes, I know this dude named Tiesto is spinning at the same time but check out Cosmic from 12-1:15 AM at the Circuit Grounds, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Feed Me

After attending the insanely disappointing failure of a festival in Dallas this past weekend, I have little to nothing to report of noteworthy or quality news. However, I was able to catch arguably the most highly anticipated act of the night, FEED ME!!!! Jon Gooch, had a Ghostland-esque lazor light show display that blew the crowd away with sheer visual audacity. Not to mention the fact that the man absolutely murdered his set. By far one of my favorite shows of all time - if you haven't picked up what I'm laying down yet, let me put it in layman's terms for you - Whatever you do, if given the opportunity, see Feed Me, the man is a musical monster!!! Here's a bundle of treats for you to snack on to which I honestly cannot establish a favorite, they're all massive dubby electro-house bangers... like I said, he's a monster...Cheers!

Skrilly Illy

Having only caught towards the end of his set at Chella '11, this will be my first real time seeing Sonny Moore aka Skrillex. We've all grown to love his filthy, out of this world sounds with hit singles like "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" as well as ridiculous remixes along the likes of his rendition of La Roux's "In For The Kill." Here's a couple tracks your ears might still be virgins to and make sure to check Skrilly out on Saturday, 3-4:30 AM at the Neon Garden.

Shout out also to Bengi G and Plus One, you may know em as Jack Beats, who will be tearing up the stage right before from 2-3 AM.

EDC Week – It’s Me Bitches

With the recent happenings at EDC Dallas, EDM lovers and rave goers begin to look forward to the massive of all EDC massives - EDC Las Vegas, taking place this upcoming weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With the expected crowds, one can only wonder what insanity will ensue and hope that no youngsters ruin the show. It's EDC Week according to Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, so I'm gonna make it the same here at DxE with a daily rundown of artists I'm most looking forward to seeing. Kicking it off with the young Dutchman Nicky Romero, whose style I've grown to love more and more with each one of his jams. Can't wait to catch him closing out the entire weekend on Sunday 4:30-6 AM at the Kinetic Field.
PS. Nicky will be throwing down a pre-EDC set this Monday at Playhouse in Hollywood with special guest Justin Michael. Check out the flyer to the right and get your tix here

1 Death Confirmed… EDC Dallas Shut Down

via DallasNews.comUPDATE: The Dallas County Medical Examiner says the person who died was 19-year-old Andrew James Graf or Argyle. Dallas Fire-Rescue originally said the deceased was a 15-year-old boy, but that appears to be an error on their part.

A 15-year-old  19 year old died and more than two dozen others who were at the Electric Daisy Carnival at Fair Park were hospitalized because of drugs, alcohol and heat-related health problems, authorities said.
No information was immediately available on what may have caused the death of the teen boy who was at the rave, which gained notoriety after the death of a teen girl at the same event in Los Angeles last year.
In addition to the Saturday death, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said "Approximately 25-30 people were taken to local hospitals with a multitude of emergencies related to either drug or alcohol use and even heat related issues."
Authorities described a chaotic scene at Fair Park that began with calls for paramedics about 9 p.m. and ended early this morning.
"At one time there were at least 10 different rescue units responding to the event at once, with a number of Emergency Medical Services Supervisors and engine companies for manpower," Evans said. "The chaos finally came to a rapid stop when someone pulled a fire alarm around 1:30 a.m. and sent those that remained scattering."

Enrique Iglesias ft. Ludacris - Tonight (I'm Lovin You) (Chuckie Remix)

A true electro track by a true electro artist, Lazy Rich with the vocals of Lizzie Curious leading up to the heavy drops oh so perfectly. A sick remix pack along the likes of one of my favorite electro producers Darth & Vader and also throwing in a couple dope mixes by Brazilian mastermind Alex Mind. Happy weekend everybody... where will you be in exactly 1 week?

Are You Ready for the Ruffneck?

As previously posted as part of the More Monsters and Sprites EP, Ruffneck Bass, is a fat dubby, heavy hitting monster that emerged as part of Skrillex's twisted yet magical madness of productions. SoniXx has really made this headbanger a blend of electro beauty. The remix is glorious, churnnnn it up. Cheers

The 27 year old Aussie describes his style as "SexyTwistedDirtyElectroTechHouseMusic" and it really can't be described any better. His influx of remixes this year has already been flooding my itunes and seems like every one gets harder and dirtier. This dude is fuckin' awesome, hopefully we'll be seeing him in the States sometime soon.
