ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL Announces Complete Phase 1 Line-Up with Additions!!

New Year’s weekend saw the much-anticipated Phase 1 Lineup of Ultra Music Festival’s Miami showdown make its way around the World Wide Web like wildfire after Avicii leaked the lineup online. If there was ever an excuse to slap ‘viral’ on an announcement then this was it! One week after the Internet frenzy, and the world’s premier electronic dance music festival can now confirm artists that will be performing throughout the 6-day/2-weekend marathon of sound, light and dance. Over the weekends of March 15-17 and March 22-24, Downtown Miami plays host to the event’s 15th year with an unparalleled bill of the best DJs, live acts and future talent this planet has to offer.

The world is already aware that this year’s edition of the iconic festival will mark the final curtain for Swedish House Mafia, who’ve chosen Ultra Music Festival as the ‘One Last Tour’ finale to end where it once began (Ultra Music Festival at Bicentennial Park in 2010).  Expect an unforgettable performance created specially for Ultra Music Festival by deadmau5, one of the industry’s most in-demand talents who returns to close out both Saturday nights.  Luminaries who have aided in shaping the movement make appearances across BOTH weekends include Tiësto, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Avicii as well as (in alphabetical order): Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Bassnectar, Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Kaskade, Knife Party and Richie Hawtin. Of course, Ultra Music Festival wouldn’t be complete without the essential Carl Cox & Friends Arena, which has been announced in addition to Armin van Buuren’s (the world’s #1 DJ) A State Of Trance 600 Arena.  Mixmag—the world’s indispensible clubbing bible—will also slam into the sunshine with an area of their own and who can forget the #1 club in the world, Space Ibiza, bringing Phase 1 of Ultra’s 15th Anniversary to close with the return of their own Space Ibiza Arena.

It is not only the cosmic DJ talent that ensures Ultra Music Festival’s growth year after year, it’s also the LIVE elements that entice thousands of revelers to the Festival’s sun-kissed terrain.   This year, and again in alphabetical order, live performances includes: The Bloody Beetroots, Booka Shade, Boys Noize, Crystal Castles, Disclosure, DJ Fresh Live, Hot Chip, Major Lazer, Matt & Kim, Modestep, Rudimental, Thievery Corporation, and Yeasayer. All acts are confirmed to make appearances; some returning after more than a year’s absence and some making grand debuts, thus proving the forward-thinking and finger-on-the-pulse nature of Ultra’s festival organizers.  These lineups showcase Ultra’s ability to consistently deliver on talent, both fresh and established!

Destructo feat. Oliver – “LA Funky”

Like its namesake Los Angeles, this new track by U-Tern and Oligee of the duo Oliver and Destructo (aka Gary Richards, the founder of all of favorite HARD Events) seamlessly melds the techno sounds of Detroit, Chicago, Berlin and Ibiza into one perfect, year-round dance party.

The video was shot and directed by Kevin Kerslake and features the three best friends that anyone could have rolling around Los Angeles in a classic convertible, flashing to people of Los Angeles getting funky.  Little Tokyo, Venice Beach boardwalk, Hollywood Boulevard and LACMA are just some of the spots represented. Awesome look around this beautiful city we get to call home, with a definite favorite for fans of all genres.

"LA Funky" can also be found  on 'Technology', Destructo’s debut EP out now on Boys Noize’s emerging talent brand BNR TRAX.

Boys Noize and Skrillex Form New Side Project?

Dog Blood

According to reports, Boys Noize and Skrillex have collaborated on what is being called "300% break-acid-tech-noise."

Earlier this morning, Skrillex posted a teaser video for a track titled "Next Order," attributed to an artist called Dog Blood. The 1:43 video features the logos of both artists' labels - Skrillex's OWSLA and Boys Noize's Boysnoize Records - and is described as "MIDDLE FINGER ACID TERROR from Boysnoize Records and OWSLA".

Having appeared in Boys Noize's set at Tomorrowland, it's no surprise that speculation exists as to whether this is a new band or a side project for the two artists.

So far, neither Skrillex nor Boys Noize have commented on who or what exactly Dog Blood is, but Alex Rhida (BN), in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, did express his desire to explore harder sounds much like Skrillex's, saying "I always love to play jacking stuff and harder stuff... Right now, like in the last two years, a lot of the electronic music, or what you call now EDM, it feels too generic for me sometimes and a bit soulless."

While the entire world speculates and tries to figure out who this Dog Blood really is, be sure to peep the teaser video. From the sounds of it, it would be difficult to contend the strong possibility that the two have actually joined forces.

MUSIC MONDAY WRAP UP

Good afternoon folks and Happy Music Monday! With the heat finally hitting the west coast in full-flex , the summer EDM bangers have begun to pour in. Let's start things off with  French prodigy, Madeon...He played two shows last night at the Wavehouse in San Diego and at the Yost Theatre in Orange County. Not only that, his new track, "Finale" also released yesterday. His monstrous releases and performances at EDC NY and Ultra are clearly the stepping stones that mark him down to be one of the next big producers of our generation. His nu-disco style combined with drum n bass have audiences grooving all night."Finale" is a track that is  relatively slower-paced  with some thumping drum work and powerful vocals showing how Madeon's production have matured in a limited span of time. Check it.

Next up...Tommy Trash's latest collaboration with German Electro House duo, Digitalism. "Falling" starts out with a heavy electro feel but gradually tones down into melodic synths. Trash's version provides his signature electro beats while leveling it up with the original sound.

Over the past year, many trance producers/djs have begun to incorporate electro house and dubstep beats in their music. Legendary Dutch producers, 4 Strings incorporate this Nu-Trance style in "The Other Side". The track progresses from fast deep electro into melodic piano synths  that provide the big room house feeling.

With the release of Zedd's "Spectrum" EP nearly a week away, he reveals the all-star lineup of DJ's that will be featured. Armin Van Buuren kicked things off when he played his remix on ASOT a couple of weeks ago. Next, Arty and Deniz Koyu provided their takes and now A-Trak, Clockwork, Gregory Klosman and Tristan Garner have all joined in on the list of collaborators. Nicky Romero has had a busy year with touring extensively and  producing bangers after bangers collaborates with Zedd in "Human" and completes this dynamic EP. Available on Beatport July 31st.

And finally...today's biggest story. I woke up this morning and while I was browsing through my newsfeed on Facebook, I came across this wonderful article in Rollingstone. German producer Alex Ridha aka Boys Noize is BACK! The Hard Summer headliner has finally announced the October 2nd release of his third studio album-Out of the Black on his record label. The album's opening track "What you want" has the ""raw and rough sound" of his early music combining his signature robot vocal samples with old-school hip-hop beats, according to Ridha himself. Check the track and his entire interview with RollingStone right here.

Boys Noize Presents: Super Acid

Boys Noize has compiled 12 modern acid jams done by BNR artists and homies like Feadz, Joakim & Krikor and Brodinski tributing 20 years of Acid.

How to make a classic Acid track ?

First you need a Roland-Tb 303 Bassline which – back in 1982 – was made for musicians to replace the actual bass or guitar. It’s manual is the most annoying thing to read because it teaches you classic music lessons, no wonder that the idea of the Roland TB 303 been a real instrument have failed and noone wanted to buy the it.

In the middle of the 80′s Dj Pierre, member of Phuture produced a 12min track “Acid Trax” with just a drumachine and the 303, a total new sound created for the clubs. Shortly after a few more producers put that “useless” thing together with a drummachine like the Roland Tr 808 or 909, programmed a bassline pattern and recorded live sessions, abusing it’s incredible filters: Acid-House was born. A new genre was born.
Because the Roland Tb 303 got so expensive, you can find diverse clones of that wonderful machine and since 1 year you can even make Acid sounds with your phone – Boys Noize presents a compilation full of new, modern acid, made in all kinds of ways.
Some, well most, of the producers on this compilation have used the classic Roland303, some used a 303 clone, a 303 plug-in and some even rocked the 303 iphone app.
Some of the producers on this compilation spent their time with all kinds of analog gear and mixers to have the original “warm” sound they love and some others just use a fucking laptop. can you hear the difference ? well, i can – but do you really ?
And why release new Acid tracks when you can find the best ones made 10-20 years ago ?
Because this is some fresh Acid you havent heared before, produced by incredible young talents that know everything about the Acid-life, producers that take this genre to another level, into the future.

I'm still so pumped about Boys Noize's set Halloween Weekend at Hard Haunted Mansion. They absolutely rocked the show and made my weekend. Some of you may recall the Hard New Year's Eve disaster last year when Boys Noize trainwrecked after only a few minutes. Ever since then I had been waiting for my chance to see him again. These two tracks are absolute bangers. Got em on repeat.
