Just wanted to share a few photos from my friends over at SiriusXM. They held several massive gatherings at the W Hotel this past weekend for UMF, and even created a little history. Calvin Harris closed out Thursday and brought out a special guest- DJ Afrojack! This is the first time they have ever played back to back, and they made sure to leave the crowd with some special extras, including new music.
It was one nonstop party after another, with performances and interviews from Krewella, Armin van Buuren, Steve Aoki, and R3Hab (just to name a few).
Sirius even set up UMF Radio to broadcast everything live to suscribers. Check out the Facebook page HERE and several of the interviews HERE
Now that this year of madness is over, we can only wait patiently until UMF 2014 (assuming the city of Miami doesn't throw another hissy fit). For now, keep raging! And make sure to check in with SiriusXM Electric Area on their site for more fun things to come.
New Year’s weekend saw the much-anticipated Phase 1 Lineup of Ultra Music Festival’s Miami showdown make its way around the World Wide Web like wildfire after Avicii leaked the lineup online. If there was ever an excuse to slap ‘viral’ on an announcement then this was it! One week after the Internet frenzy, and the world’s premier electronic dance music festival can now confirm artists that will be performing throughout the 6-day/2-weekend marathon of sound, light and dance. Over the weekends of March 15-17 and March 22-24, Downtown Miami plays host to the event’s 15th year with an unparalleled bill of the best DJs, live acts and future talent this planet has to offer.
The world is already aware that this year’s edition of the iconic festival will mark the final curtain for Swedish House Mafia, who’ve chosen Ultra Music Festival as the ‘One Last Tour’ finale to end where it once began (Ultra Music Festival at Bicentennial Park in 2010). Expect an unforgettable performance created specially for Ultra Music Festival by deadmau5, one of the industry’s most in-demand talents who returns to close out both Saturday nights. Luminaries who have aided in shaping the movement make appearances across BOTH weekends include Tiësto, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Avicii as well as (in alphabetical order): Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Bassnectar, CalvinHarris, CarlCox, FatboySlim, Kaskade, KnifeParty and RichieHawtin. Of course, Ultra Music Festival wouldn’t be complete without the essential Carl Cox & Friends Arena, which has been announced in addition to Armin van Buuren’s (the world’s #1 DJ) A State Of Trance 600 Arena. Mixmag—the world’s indispensible clubbing bible—will also slam into the sunshine with an area of their own and who can forget the #1 club in the world, Space Ibiza, bringing Phase 1 of Ultra’s 15th Anniversary to close with the return of their own Space Ibiza Arena.
It is not only the cosmic DJ talent that ensures Ultra Music Festival’s growth year after year, it’s also the LIVE elements that entice thousands of revelers to the Festival’s sun-kissed terrain. This year, and again in alphabetical order, live performances includes: The Bloody Beetroots, BookaShade, BoysNoize, Crystal Castles, Disclosure, DJFresh Live, Hot Chip, Major Lazer, Matt & Kim, Modestep, Rudimental, Thievery Corporation, and Yeasayer. All acts are confirmed to make appearances; some returning after more than a year’s absence and some making grand debuts, thus proving the forward-thinking and finger-on-the-pulse nature of Ultra’s festival organizers. These lineups showcase Ultra’s ability to consistently deliver on talent, both fresh and established!

Calvin Harris (whose real name is Adam Wiles btw, little known fact...) is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars not only in the EDM world but throughout all music music scenes around the globe. Fresh off a Grammy nomination and brand new album entitled "18 Months," the Scottish phenom has been touring down under in Australia alongside the Stereosonic Festival crew, with a few dates scattered around Asia as well.
While he's been keeping busy, his team has recently created -- and made available to you all -- the lyric video for his track "Drinking From The Bottle," off that previously mentioned album, featuring none other than Tinie Tempah. A really cool idea as you can understand (and possibly sing along with) the entire track, not to mention the fact that they threw in some pretty bomb graphics and visuals when the music hits.
Just an hour ago Dillon Francis released his brand new single, "Here 2 China," a collaboration with Calvin Harris and UK lyricist Dizzee Rascal. With so many big names on one track, it's no wonder this jam already has 350 listens and 1,000+ likes on Facebook. Says Francis of his newest production:
I cannot believe i got to make a song with calvin harris for his album.... and that fact that Dizzee Rascal is featured on it.... my mind is still blown that i got this opportunity..Hop you guys enjoy the track!!
The song, along with the rest of Calvin's new album 18 Months will be released tomorrow on iTunes and is available now for presale. The album will also feature already infamous bangers such as "Awooga" and "Feel So Close."
Calvin Harris has had a dynamic year as he has finally established himself as a mainstream music mogul and captures the attention of many of his day time radio listeners with tracks like "We Found Love" and "Spectrum". October 29th 2012 marks the day of the release of his third studio album titled, "18 Months". It features several of his collaborations in the past year. Check out the tracklist and a preview of his collaboration with Florence and the Machine's frontwoman, Florence Welch. It aired on Chris Moyles radio show on BBC radio 1 last night and has a catchy sound that sounds very similar to "Bounce". A definite banger for EDM's takeover of daytime radio in America.
Tracklist:
Awooga
Bounce (featuring Kelis)
Drinking From The Bottle (featuring Tinie Tempah)
Feel So Close
Iron (with Nicky Romero)
Let’s Go (featuring Ne-Yo)
Sweet Nothing (featuring Florence Welch)
We Found Love (with Rihanna)
We’ll Be Coming Back (featuring Example)
TBA (featuring Ellie Goulding)
TBA (featuring Dillion Francis)
TBA (featuring Dizzee Rascal)
TBA (featuring Ayah)
Nicky Romero's brings us a dose of wombs and synths in his new collab with Calvin Harris. It has a similar sound to his previous collaboration with David Guetta in a song called "Metropolis" but the vocals of Calvin Harris adds to the epic big room drop. This is out on September 10 on Protocol recordings.
Last night marked one of the busiest yet awesome nights we have ever had the pleasure of being a part of over at LURE, the newest hotspot in LA nightlife, hosted by React Presents and Boulevard Nightlife Group (BNG). Following an opening set by BURNS, the man of the hour Calvin Harris took the stage as the clock passed midnight, opening up with a vocal acapella of his classic "I'm Not Alone" into Hardwell's summer jam "Spaceman." For over an hour following, the Scottish legend had the crowd going nonstop with tunes that have taken over the EDM club scene along the likes of Deniz Koyu's "Tung" and Nicky Romero's "Generation 303" while never forgetting to throw in some of his own masterpieces such as "Awooga" and "Bounce." One of the most impressive parts of his set, in my opinion, was his constant mashing of vocals over bangin' tracks such as Calvin's "You Used To Hold Me" with Hard Rock Sofa's "Quasar" as well as Justice's "We Are Your Friends" which he dropped into "Awooga." Keeping the energy up throughout and transitioning seemingly at ease, I don't think I saw a single person leave the club before the end of his set.
If you find yourself in Los Angeles and haven't been to LURE yet, look no further for a better spot right now. But more importantly, if you haven't had the chance to check our Calvin live before you truly have no idea what you're missing.
International hit songwriter/producer and MTV Video Music Award nominee ("Best Electronic Dance Music Video" for "Feel So Close") Calvin Harris is currently reigning Top 10 Pop at U.S. radio with tracks like "Feel So Close" and "Let's Go" (Ultra Music). The former is indie meets dance with the usual catchy hit factor of a Harris single. Helmed by his unassuming vocal, the track has an anthemic euphoria in its feel-good chorus and echoing guitar. Harris' other radio smash single "Let's Go" featuring Ne-Yo is sizzling in rotation on over 200 multi format radio stations across the country including Z100, WKTU, Now 92.3 in New York, and KIIS, Power106 and AMP Radio in Los Angeles. Expect to hear these hits and more when Calvin comes to Hollywood's newest hotspot LURE this Friday, August 10. For tickets and more info please visit HERE.
Calvin Harris has just graced our ears with his latest single which features vocals from one my favorites, Example. A classic Calvin-sound to this one, the master of poppy-fun electronic dance tracks really injects a youthful flavor into 'We'll Be Coming Back'. As always, it's rather catchy, but if you love Calvin like I do then you'll definitely be pleased with this song, which is set to be released on June 29. Cheers
Brand new spankin' track from two of LA's finest Spencer Neezy and DxE's very own Joe Care aka Beach Life Kings as they take over Calvin Harris' newest track "Let's Go" featuring vocals from the ever-famous Ne-Yo. With names such as Nicky Romero and Swedish House Mafia bring acid house back to the forefront of EDM, these guys prove that the acid sounds are bangers no matter what system you're listening on. Even kind enough to provide a DL link, you can download the track straight to your iTunes. Enjoy!
Back from hiatus with fresh new bootlegs for you all. Sorry it's been a few weeks, hope everyone's had a great start to 2012. A little bit of old school mixed in with this pack, along with the newest mashup by our very own Skipper aka BlackBlueGold. Back with a vengeance, hope these get your week started right. Cheers.
Done with finals, crazy weekend behind us can only mean it's the start of what's looking like another cold winter week here in la la land. Pack of new mix and mashes for your ears, a little blast from the past and of course the newest of the new as always -- just what the doctor ordered after all the originals we've put out this weekend. Here's to winter break officially starting, cheers!
Recover time after one hell of a halloweekend. Pics and reviews of both the Mau5 and Escape epicness coming in the new few days so look out for yourselves if you were part of the madness. It's bootleg week for this newest Volume of The Daze. Happy halloween to everyone, hopefully you've all left a little in the tank for one last day n night of celebrating.
For those who joined us over at Supperclub on Thursday night, thanks and we hope you had just a crazy of a night as we did. For those who didn't well.... that sucks, you really missed out but at least we'll get the pics and interview up for you soon. As for this week's SSP, in case the pic up top didn't tell you it's all about the remixes - each a new rendition of a previous classic we've all come to love. Always great hearing that track we all know, but even better when it drops into something we'd never expect. So enjoy, and stay thirsty ladies and gents.
Calvin Harris is at it again. Remixing the newest track of his record label, Fly Eye by Burns, Mr. Harris has graced us with yet another catchy house banger. Buy this slapper here.
Time to peep the "2011 Bootleg Pack" just recently released by So Cal native Adrien Mezsi. He's got some truly bangin' mashups and bootlegs going, as well as edits of his own. Be sure to check out the rest of his tracks on his soundcloud also - the dude has some serious talent!
If you haven't heard Calvin Harris' newest banger, well then you've been out of the game... but in for a treat. The Nero remix has been circulating all over the world, but here's most everything I could find on the track, including an instrumental should anyone care to remix the track themselves Following "Awooga," "Bounce," and now this, I can't wait to see what the Scottsman Harris will come up with next.
Having only caught towards the end of his set at Chella '11, this will be my first real time seeing Sonny Moore aka Skrillex. We've all grown to love his filthy, out of this world sounds with hit singles like "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" as well as ridiculous remixes along the likes of his rendition of La Roux's "In For The Kill." Here's a couple tracks your ears might still be virgins to and make sure to check Skrilly out on Saturday, 3-4:30 AM at the Neon Garden.
