Brought you the preview a while back, and now, here is the final version of Major Lazer's trapped out Dada Life remix. This version of Boing Clash Boom is dirty, grimy fun and perfect for any occasion. Check it out below, and make sure to pick up your very own copy on Beatport from So Much Dada.

A REVIEW: DADALAND IN LALALAND

Dada Life finally invaded the historic Shrine Auditorium in downtown LA after tickets had been sold out for well over a month. There was certainly a buzz that surrounded the area and loud thumping that shook the nearby city streets. The police force was out and about, keeping tabs on the ridiculousness about to ensue in the one of the most crime-ridden parts of town.

The security line was filled with anxious teenagers, well-seasoned ravers, cool-headed night lifers, and dudes in banana suits. Not a couple banana suits, not even a bunch (pun intended)... we are talking a sea of yellow. “What the F?” the security guards must have been thinking as they tried to pat down the foam and inflatable banana costumes. Seriously. If you had tried to meet up with friends and told them to look out for you in the banana suit, you probably would have remained lost and alone. Luckily, I was in jeans and a t-shirt, making it easy for me to... you know, walk.

I made it inside to see Pierce Fulton, an up and coming DJ who recently released the super catchy house anthem “Wanna Be” with Maor Levi. Pierce played the club mix, which really got the crowd amped up. His set also included a surprisingly large amount of Anjunabeats tracks, including the brand new Above & Beyond single, “Walter White.” Pierce reminded me of a young (ironically) Porter Robinson, mixing electro-house bangers with melodic trance. A perfect opening act and someone to keep an eye out for if he ever comes to your neck of the woods.

At 11pm, Deniz Koyu took over. And I mean: TOOK. OVER. He opened with a mashup of his infamous “Bong” with The Naked and Famous’ “Young Blood.” He kept the energy up throughout his entire set, throwing in his new tracks like “Rage” with those from monster EDM producers like Hardwell, W&W, and the late Swedish House Mafia. My absolute favorite part of his set was the last 10 minutes. He brought everyone to the calm for the Dada-storm, surprising the crowd with Daft Punk’s new single, “Get Lucky,” off their new album. He masterfully mashed it with a Jordy Dazz rework, giving it a nice electro punch. Then, he transitioned into my favorite Deniz Koyu production: his collab with Dirty South, “Halo.” Deniz left everyone screaming and wanting more... a void only Dada Life could fill.

On came Dada Life with a audio-visual intro that matched the absurdity of Dada-ism itself. Olle and Stefan, the men behind the Dada, were quick to remind everyone: “There are no rules but the rules of Dada” and that we came pretty, but we must “leave ugly.” And with those words, the Dada was unleashed. Although they only played for an hour and half, they managed to work in almost all of their unmistakable hits from the past two years, including: “Rolling Stones T-Shirt,” “Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker,” and their remix of “The Big Bad Wolf.” It was an awesome surprise, however, to hear “Happy Violence” and “Cookies with a Smile,” both slightly older but instantly recognizable. All of these are soon to be instant Dada-classics, reminding me of the good ol’ days when Dada Life used to open with “Damascus.” Ah... that song... Anyway, Dada Life did a fantastic job keeping the energy high, tossing bananas from the stage into the crowd of bananas. And at one point, bringing a banana from the crowd onstage. If that isn’t Dada, what is? They also played the best new tracks out there, straight from their May 2013 mix. The two that hit the hardest were: “Buzzcut” by Bingo Players and Tiesto’s remix of “Get Loose.” Amazing. They closed with “Feed the Dada,” while every single person in the theatre yelled the lyrics at the top of their lungs, not wanting the night to end and not wanting to leave any gas in their tanks. No encore. Dada Land was officially closed.

It was an incredible performance – and I use the word “performance” intentionally. Olle and Stefan would throw their arms in the air, jump around like mad men, and put their hands on their head as if to say, “I can’t believe this crowd!” And yet, this was a typical night for the two of them – they had a performance in San Francisco the night before and they are continuing their tour as we speak. In fact, they had an equally anticipated after-party to attend immediately after they ended their set at the Shrine. But for those in attendance, the night was one of a kind. Everyone left with a smile... and if you didn’t, they handed out cardboard cut outs of smiles as souvenirs.

So Young So High (Tiesto Remix) Preview

A preview of Tiesto's remix to Dada Life's 'So Young So High' popped up on the Swedish duo's youtube channel late last week. The teaser doesn't unveil too much of the song, as it starts out very similar to the original and then builds into a synthy & massive festival-esque drop that has become a trademark of Tiesto's evolved delivery. Anyone else miss the trance-house extraodinaire of the good old days? No word yet on the release of this remix.

Dada Life Releases ‘The Rules of Dada’ [Review x2]

o-DADA-LIFE-RULES-OF-DADA-570

The long anticipated release of their first album, The Rules of Dada, by Dada Life is at last upon us. The Swedish duo worked for the past year and put together a magnificent package of eleven banging songs that doesn't let up from start to finish. The intent and concept behind the entire production was to stay true to their elements of massive in-your-face rowdy electro music and they accomplished just that, engineering a complete record that envelops their trademark heavy-hitting sound, which at times nearly reaches violent levels of rock-enfused energy. With the final product, Dada Life has accomplished exactly what they set out to do, which is to stay true to their own style and not sell out, thus the end result = 100% Dada. While there are a few 'experiments' if you will, that stray a bit from the general tone of the rest, such as "Bass Don't Cry" & "You Will Do What We Do" - has an innovative approach to vocal integration - they don't begin to disappoint, but rather highlight the progression and willingness of the two to explore / pursue various avenues of sound. All in all, this is exactly what I love about Dada Life and exactly why they are my favorite show to attend... They're just a couple of super goofy and fun dudes that like to f*** shit up! Cheers

Dada Life – The Rules Of Dada

Its finally here!

Just released today (in the US, yesterday everywhere else), we are finally graced with Dada Life's newest collection of tracks, The Rules of Dada. While most of these songs have either been released, leaked or previewed before, they are still so incredible to hear all in one place. The definite surprise here however, is in the quality of those other tracks.

The style and range is definitely, and completely quintessential Dada. On the other hand though, they have managed to create incredible variances on their own signature style. For example, "Boing Clash Boom" starts off exactly like you would expect. Shocking syths and vibrating bass that leads straight into a fist pumping build to the drop. Then WHAMMY! Hardstyle. And just like that its back to normal Dada. Or "Don't Stop", a much more melodic and floating track with a supremely gorgeous vocal loop (something bringing to mind old Imogen Heap). My personal favorite, and a new anthem of our "live free, die young" generation, "So Young So High" is their first real attempt (in my opinion) at a catchy, radio friendly track. I don't know why, but it really hits me in all the right ways. I dare you to listen without cracking a smile or without getting the urge to run around smashing mailboxes while maniacally laughing with friends.

If you're already a fan, I don't think that I need to tell you this album is a must. If you're not, this could not have been a better collection of songs to turn you on to these crazy Swedes. Stream the tracks below, or purchase the album HERE on iTunes. Happy Violence everyone!!!

Kaskade – Llove (Dada Life Remix)

The wild Dada boys are at it again. They have finally released the mastered version of a monster track they have been playing in their sets for some time now. Their most recent conquest finds them taking on Kaskade's undeniably gorgeous Llove. There is a reason Kaskade keeps using Haley for her vocals, and it is because they are freaking perfect. Unfortunately, this remix does not really capture the feel that comes along with her voice, or even the tone of the original song, but it is an absolute beast of a track nonetheless. Hit me up in the comments, I'm curious what the rest of the blogosphere thinks of this one.

Buy it on Beatport now, or snag the rip from Coachella below.

Energy 2012 – The Album

Energy 2012 - The Album

Now established as the first key tent-pole event of the new EDM year, ID&T's Energy is clued-up clubbers first encounter with the sound-designs that Europe's electronic dance top-tier are going to be sending their way throughout the coming year. The best of the world's top-tier producers. The most cutting-edge remixologists. The newest, hottest studio stars of tomorrow. They're all gathered, they're all here... for Energy 2012 - The ALBUM!

Before WMC, before UMF, before the White Isle or the summer month's festivalism, right here is where the starting gun sounds! The titanic Utrecht-based Energy event is the launch pad for each new beats/bass/synth-packed EMD year,

With their finely-tuned lone-range radars scanning studios near daily, ID&T & High Contrast sign the tracks that capture the essence of the event straight off the mixing desks. Their track-packed 2012 edition has sourced music from heavyweight operators like Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, John Dahlback, Marco V, and Marcel Woods, as well as nu-skool heroes including Hardwell, Dada Life, Jochen Miller, Chris Lake, and Funkagenda. It also selects white-hot sonics from the prospecting superstars of tomorrow, Nicky Romero, Deniz Koyu, Manuel De La Mare being just three.

Every event of standing requires an official anthem and every mix-comp needs a big kick-off. This year Energy's audio-emblem is served up by Hardwell, who following his runaway success over the last 12 months, springboards into 2012 with 'Cobra.' fulfilling all the requirements of the anthem mandate, it's a huge, bass-powered, squelch 'n' distort fest, topped by a wickedly infectious 'n' irresistible organ mainline. Continuing to mine a rich seam of music, it's followed by the marching drums of Denzal Parl's 'Militia,' Ted Nilsson's heart-pounder 'Runaway' and the big-room culture of Fedde Le Grand & Patric La Funk's 'Autosave' - all of which nitro-inject the mix. Hardcoding the event's dance-DNA, you'll also find Dahlback's high-wire tense 'Feel It,' 'Work Hard, Play Hard,' Tiesto's weekender-aimed anthem and Dada Life's deliciously looping (and loopy) 'Cookies With A Smile' all continue to flesh out the event's ethos.

From its outset fisc 2 sets about securing Energy's groove credentials and ensures those quotas are kept sky-high! Building more house rhythms into the mix are EDX'S 'D.A.N.C.E.', the warped bass of Chris Lake & Michael Woods' 'Domino's and the big piano drop moment of Jerome Isma-Ae and Daniel Portman's 'Flashing Lights.' The mix's midpoint lets loose the first-time collaboration of Marco V and Marcel Woods. The team behind 'Scream' team have watched a litany of DJs rally to their track's cause, turning it into one of 2012's first must-owns. As the disc reaches its conclusion, the nu-skool performs a takeover.

The electro-bounce of Joey Suki's 'Zomp,' Ostahnhof & Ugo Platana's 'Evensong' (in its drum-dramatic Michael Woods remix form) and the whooping uprush of Tim Mason album endgame 'Anima' collectively, conclusively seal Energy's audio-ideology.

Every bit your gateway to spring's arena season (and beyond), ID&T's 'Energy 2012 - The Album' is a future-perfect vision of the pulse-quickening floor anthems coming our way this year.

Forward thinking dance denizens, buckle up and get your clubbing shoes on! It's going to get a whole lot fiercer before it gets any calmer!

Dance Music’s Biggest Names Battle It Out On The Soccer Field During Miami Music Week

WMC Soccer Game

Miami Music Week has traditionaly been a time for the world's best DJs to come together under the Miami sun to showcase their skills behind the decks. This year, they'll also be showcasing their skills on the soccer field! As I write this post, teams comprised of top talent representing the Netherlands and Sweden are facing off for charity and the fight against AIDS.

The kill is incomparable as Dutch captain Tiesto leads his teammates Afrojack, Nicky Romero, Quintino, Sidney Samson, R3hab, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano against Swedish captain Sebastian Ingrosso and his teammates Alesso, Adrian Lux, Dada Life (Stefan and Olie), AN21, and Otto Knows. The game will consist of two 30-minute periods with a ten minute break in between.

Each team will play in the signature colors of their country and will have a custom jersey made especially for this event. At the end of the game each jersey will be signed by each participant in the game and auctioned by (RED) with all proceeds going to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. (RED) is currently focusing its efforts on helping to end the transmission of HIV from moms to their babies by 2015, one of the markers of "the beginning of the end of AIDS." For more details about the auction follow (RED) on Twitter @joinred.

The game will be filmed, with highlights and interviews with the players going live on (RED)'s Youtube Channel the following week. **We'll be sure to keep you posted when those go viral**

Let the debate begin... who will win dance music's ultimate battle of bragging rights - Team Netherlands or Team Sweden?

ROSTERS

Team Netherlands                                                            Team Sweden
