Dirty South Sound

It's not too often that Sunday night becomes one of the hottest nights to go out in Los Angeles. But when celebrating the birthdays of 3 of the biggest names in Hollywood, it can almost be guaranteed that all rules go out the window. Last night, Russian Rob, Igor Zag and Eli Wehbe -- owners of LA's newest hotspot Sound -- capped off a weekend full of celebrations by bringing in Australia's own Dragan Roganović, better known as Dirty South. The man himself came on just passed midnight as the work week had officially begun; no one in the entire venue even seemed to notice as the place erupted at the very sight of him taking the decks. Following up on the opening set, he slowly lulled the crowd with a tech/deep house opening couple of tracks before unleashing a perfect combination of Dirty South classics, new singles from his debut artist album Speed of Life and (what seemed like) a whole array of never before heard IDs, remixes and mashups. Everyone got to enjoy the familiar sounds of tracks such as "Walking Alone," "Devil's Work," and "Silvia," all the while bouncing and jumping around to remixes of tracks along the likes of "Nillionaire" by Alesso and "Alive," a DS and Thomas Gold collaboration. All in all, the Sound crew was able to turn any old 'Sunday bloody Sunday' until one of the best Sunday nights I've been witness to in quite sometime (not to mention that some familiar faces such as Avicii decided to join in on the party). Happy birthday to the big 3 from all of us here at DxE!

Dirty South Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1

To call that a "preview" is seriously an understatement. Last night, Dirty South threw down hard. His first Essential Mix since 2008, Dragan Roganović slapped for two solid hours. The set featured tracks off his first full-length album, Speed of Life, released just two weeks ago, as well as new tracks on his label and some really sick remixes. You can stream it now from BBC or swoop the free download below (thank you random SoundCloud). Enjoy! A xx

Big synths, sexy melody, dirty baseline and epic vocals. This track's got it all. Good to see Alesso n Dirty South getting it in together.

Dirty South remixes Miike Snow’s “Devil’s Work”

I first heard this track at the beginning of Dirty South's set at the LED event that took place at the San Diego Sports Arena (one of the best events I've had the privileges of attending) and pretty sure it was the first time the man from Down Unda had ever dropped it live.

Yesterday, Phazing Records officially released the Dirty South remix of “Devil’s Work” from Miike Snow – named Essential New Tune for Miami Music Week by Pete Tong, Dirty South’s interpretation of “Devil’s Work” is one of the most talked about remixes of the spring and a mainstay in the sets of the world’s finest DJs.

It’s been an amazing year for Miike Snow as they continue their sold out tour in support of of the critically acclaimed sophomore album, “Happy To You.” The band follows up an amazing performance at Coachella (they played to a record-breaking crowd of over 45,000, headlining Stage 2 on Saturday) with dates in Paris, Cologne & Berlin before heading to the UK for Brixton Academy London & Manchester Ritz - their largest UK shows to date.

Dirty South is perhaps the most versatile talent currently working in the dance world. In 2011 he experienced tremendous growth on all facets of his game - As a producer he produced two of last year’s biggest hits in “Alive” (with Thomas Gold) and “Walking Alone” delivered remixes which were instant global anthems with his take on Diddy Dirty Money “Coming Home” and Skylar Grey “invisible.” In January 2012 Dirty South reunited with Thomas Gold for one of the winter’s biggest tracks, “Eyes Wide Open (ft. Kate Elsworth)”

After all the anticipation release day is finally here…it’s time to do the Devils Work.

If you like what you here, be sure to support the artists and buy the track off beatport.

Got a new release from Dirty South today, putting the finesse on the Miike Snow original, 'Devil's Work'. DS has been steadily producing electric productions and remixes for quite some time, as I'm always on the look out for fresh work with his name on it, and this remix does not disappoint. Here he's transformed an alternative rock song into an uplifting and synthy masterpiece that has all the makings of a track that is engineered to be played in front of huge festival crowds. He transcends genre boundary seamlessly and this track is audio proof for your listening pleasure. Cheers

Check Out This BehindTheScenes Look – DIRTY SOUTH

Just got forwarded this awesome video from the PR peeps for none other than the Australian Dragan Roganovic aka Dirty South. A compilation of some pretty dope footage taking viewers on the road, into the studio, and an in depth perspective of the Dragon's time as part of the Stereosonic tour in 2011.
Also, if you haven't had the chance to check out his new single "Eyes Wide Open" make sure to peep it right below. Awesome beat as always alongside close friend and fellow mastermind Thomas Gold with vocals from the same woman that brought us "Alive" - Kate Elsworth. If you like what you here, make sure to grab the track for yourself on beatport.

Finally, as a little extra bonus for you all... Dirty was kind enough to release a 2011 Xmas Mix for free download this past year. I hadn't heard it until just a few days ago but it's banger after banger bringing back memories of some of the best tracks from last year. Tracklist available on the soundcloud page.

Hate to say it was bound to happen eventually (and I still can't believe it actually did), but my deepest apologies for being a day late on this week's SSP. As the rain began to hit Southern California so did a super busy week and weekend. Luckily though, was finally got some party time in yesterday with the UCLA victory and the boys Beach Life Kings tearing the roof off of Central last night. Sorry again for the tardiness, but I'm making this week's a double pack so hopefully the tracks will make up for it. Stay thirsty hombres.
PS. We've been getting a bunch of e-mails regardings pics from both of last weekend's events. Management from the San Diego show is still approving our pictures to put up, Escape review and pics are finally on their way :) sorry for the delay!

Dirty South & Those Usual Suspects feat. Erik Hecht- "Walking Alone" OUT NOW

“Walking Alone” has been buzzing well in advance of its release thanks to the mighty Swedish House Mafia who named it “Essential New Tune” during their takeover of Pete Tong’s legendary Friday night Radio 1 show. Since then the track has become a favorite in the sets of top DJs including Tiësto, Kaskade, Avicii, Armin Van Buuren and many more. I LOVE THIS TRACK.

From the same woman that brought us the ever famous "Coming Home," Skylar Grey just released her newest track "Invisible." Still haven't been able to decide what's more impressive - her vocals in the track or the 3 huge names she got on board to remix it for her but regardless, all of them are must haves. Enjoy.
Extra special bonus dub - Skylar Grey - Invisible (Whiiite Remix)

The 27 year old Aussie describes his style as "SexyTwistedDirtyElectroTechHouseMusic" and it really can't be described any better. His influx of remixes this year has already been flooding my itunes and seems like every one gets harder and dirtier. This dude is fuckin' awesome, hopefully we'll be seeing him in the States sometime soon.
