RIP MEHDI FAVERIS-ESSANDI (1/20/1977 - 9/13/2011)
September 13, 2011 has suddenly become a sad day in the electronic music world with the shocking news of the passing of Mehdi Faveris-Essadi, better known as DJ Mehdi. One of the most prominent members of the Ed Banger crew, it has been rumored that the 34-year-old passed following a fatal injury sustained after the roof collapsed at his home in Paris while celebrating the birthday of his friend Riton. The facebook statuses, twitter posts, and all around response from artists and fans from every realm of music serves as a testament of just how influential and well-loved Mehdi was around the world. Having been fortunate enough to see him at Coachella 2010 alongside Justice, Cassius, and Busy P (altogether known as Club 75), I can personally vouch for just how amazing he was as a performer, without even knowing him personally. In loving memory, here are a couple of our favorite Mehdi tracks. RIP brotha.
