Coming at you from a different angle today, as I have a few variations of the Icelandic post-rock band known as Sigur Rós. Comprised of four members, Sigur Rós, has been busy releasing mounds of music since they partnered up in the mid 90's. They have a unique style of production that gathers its distinction from the band's ability to truly compose orchestral masterpieces and its bizarre yet hauntingly beautiful vocals, which are presented mostly in Icelandic and/or 'Hopelandic' (a mixture of Icelandic, English, & jibberish - created by the lead singer, Jón Birgisson). A couple of my favorite releases include last years epic, 'Gobbledigook' & the eerie/ambient sounds of 'Glósóli' - if you don't have either of these be sure to check em out at the provided links above. The tracks that I've included for you below are two excellent reworks of originals by the Icelandic band. The first is a real laid back take on an already soothing jam, 'Sæglopur', featuring a little wobble from Enigma. The second is [and i hate to say it b/c I generally steer clear of this kind of music] an electro-hop mash-up of Mobb Deep and Sigur Rós. It is a bit misleading to call it a 'mash-up' as this is no Girl Talk garbage...Emancipator perfectly intertwines and blends the mobster's vocals over the super chill melody of 'Shook' by Sigur Rós. Both have a ridiculously calming vibe to them and are what I like to call, 'low-key bangers' - perfectly conducive to a mellowed out study play-list. These are must haves! Cheers
