After the success of his single ‘Springen’, US DJ and Producer MAKJ is releasing his follow up single, ‘Hakaka’ on Michael Woods’ label ‘ Diffused’.
The track builds on the sounds that made ‘Springen’ a Beatport Top 10 track, focusing on a driving, compelling rhythm. ‘Hakaka’ – which means ‘fight’ in Hawaiian - centers around a build which crescendos into a deep bassline - one that rolls along with the unrelenting beats and signals that energy and power are the go-to ingredients for MAKJ’s productions.
MAKJ, real name Mackenzie Johnson, has been DJing nearly his entire life and was tutored in mixing and scratching by the legendary DJAM. His live performance roster is full of the top clubs and venues worldwide, including Pacha, Avalon and Ruby Skye in the US. He was part of the 2011 IDentity Festival Tour and played at this year’s Miami Ultra Music Festival to a rapturous response. His original productions have made an impressive impact, with releases such as Springen and Hold Up seeing great support from heavyweights including Hardwell, NickyRomero, and BingoPlayers. Michael Woods saw the potential in MAKJ’s unique sound and so is releasing “Hakaka” on his own imprint, Diffused. Founded in 2010, Diffused was launched by Woods in order to release tracks in line with his distinguished, progressive sound. As well as Wood’s own productions, Diffused has released tracks by KairoKingdom, Sheldon, and now MAKJ, and is a label to be closely observed for the future.
The Electric Festival team in conjunction with the Aruba Tourism Authority will host Aruba's inaugural electronic music conference and events platform in the Latin American and Caribbean region: The Electric Festival. E.F. will launch during a three day event in September 2013 with some of the most recognized names in dance music today.
Headliners Chuckie, Hardwell and Slash were revealed earlier this month in the Phase 1 announcement.
The EF team and Aruba now announce that Grammy award winner Nero has been added to the line-up for this year's Electric Festival event in Aruba. In February of this year, Nero won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording for their collaborative remix of “Promises” with Skrillex. This track achieved gold status in the United States in August of 2012.
Also added to the line-up is Nicole Doudaber, DJ Boris, Mastiksoul and ConnorCruise - ready to take the stage fresh off his single release feature on Billboard earlier today of his track "Closer to Heaven" featuring DJ Poet and vocalist Mason Musso.
What is Electric Festival?
Electric Festival is a global music, arts and lifestyle playground welcoming all electronic music lovers and artists to the beautiful island and beaches of Aruba. In this annual event, Electric Festival will showcase exhibitions, events, workshops, conferences and parties.
Being a Dutch island, Aruba benefits strongly from the synergies and ties with the EDM industry in the Netherlands. Aruba is a contender to become one of the leading dance music destinations in the Latin American and Caribbean region. In June 2012, one of Forbes World’s Greatest DJs, music producer and Aruba resident Chuckie celebrated his birthday in Aruba in what became an event with thousands of guests, drawing a varied array of international stars including the likes of Akon, Jasmine Villegas, Robin van Persie and Dirk Kuyt. This event confirmed that Aruba is well on the way to becoming the premiere EDM destination in the region.
After capping off one of his most monumental years to date, the production maestro and record label executive, Hardwell, features his “Yearmix 2012” on the 97th episode of the world-renowned "Hardwell On Air" radio show in celebration of reaching 500,000 “likes” on Facebook. The first to ever introduce to me to the genre of Hardstyle, brothers Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen, better known as Showtek, bring an alternative side of Dutch EDM producers that we have become so accustomed to. The boys hit it HUGE in 2012, demonstrating that their hardstlye sounds could be easily transformed into massive bangers even with the new electro/house scene. Working with respected artists such as Tiesto and Hardwell on "Hell Yeah" and "How We Do" respectively, as well as newcomers Justin Prime and Bassjackers for "Cannonball" and "Hey!" they've had quite the number of singles and remixes hit the charts this past year.
To wrap it all up in this precious 1 and a half hour ball, the two have recently put out their "2012 MegaMix" - featuring not only their own tracks and remixes, but quite possibly the best collection of 2012 hits, or should we perhaps call them "classics" now in 2013. 93 minutes of pure excitement and bliss, the Janssen brothers have made a statement that they are back with a vengeance heading into the new year - cannot wait to see what they've got in store for us next.
If you like what you hear and wanna take it with you on the road you can snag it off the boys' iTunes page.
Be sure to peep their brand new Rage Mix of "Cannonball" featuring Justin Prime, now available for FREE download below
Sjoerd and Wouter Janssen a.k.a Showtek have been making some serious noise in the edm world first coming out with their track featuring Tiesto called "Hell Yeah", and then again working with Hardwell on the production of "How We Do". Now the dutch brothers have added some electro swag and have gone back to the hard style techno they are known for with their newest track with Justin prime called "Cannonball".
After an epic set at this years Electric Zoo in New York city, Hardwell has now released his official after video which takes a twist to most we've seen. Hardwell also drops an acoustic mix of "Call Me Spaceman" with Mitch Crown which is guaranteed to give you goosebumps and is also available on itunes. Here is Hardwells official after movie..

Fresh off the decks! LA based DJ Carnage just released this dirt nasty, trapped out version of Hardwell's monster track Spaceman. The original has been getting a lot of airtime from DJ's all over the world at festivals and shows alike. To date, this might be my favorite mix. He slowed it waaay down, and added a nice little glitch to the drop that makes for some awesome, head bangin' fun. Be careful with that heavy underlying bass too, it hits hard.
Keep an eye out for more to come from DJ Carnage. Since getting discovered by The Cataracs, he's been producing for everyone in the game from pop stars Dev and Chris Brown to hip hop new comers A$AP Rocky and Theophilus London. I'm looking forward to more big things to come.

After collaborating on Zero 76 last year, dutch producers Tiesto & Hardwell have once again combined forces with their remix of The Naked + Famous' single 'Young Blood'. The track was debuted last week at UMF in Miami and was extremely well-received. Definitely love seeing these hollanders together, as Hardwell continues to make massive strives atop the rankings [I've been hooked ever since I heard 'Molotov'], and, of course, Tiesto is the "best in the world". Cheers
Now established as the first key tent-pole event of the new EDM year, ID&T's Energy is clued-up clubbers first encounter with the sound-designs that Europe's electronic dance top-tier are going to be sending their way throughout the coming year. The best of the world's top-tier producers. The most cutting-edge remixologists. The newest, hottest studio stars of tomorrow. They're all gathered, they're all here... for Energy 2012 - The ALBUM!
Before WMC, before UMF, before the White Isle or the summer month's festivalism, right here is where the starting gun sounds! The titanic Utrecht-based Energy event is the launch pad for each new beats/bass/synth-packed EMD year,
With their finely-tuned lone-range radars scanning studios near daily, ID&T & High Contrast sign the tracks that capture the essence of the event straight off the mixing desks. Their track-packed 2012 edition has sourced music from heavyweight operators like Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, John Dahlback, Marco V, and Marcel Woods, as well as nu-skool heroes including Hardwell, DadaLife, JochenMiller, ChrisLake, and Funkagenda. It also selects white-hot sonics from the prospecting superstars of tomorrow, NickyRomero, DenizKoyu, ManuelDeLaMare being just three.
Every event of standing requires an official anthem and every mix-comp needs a big kick-off. This year Energy's audio-emblem is served up by Hardwell, who following his runaway success over the last 12 months, springboards into 2012 with 'Cobra.' fulfilling all the requirements of the anthem mandate, it's a huge, bass-powered, squelch 'n' distort fest, topped by a wickedly infectious 'n' irresistible organ mainline. Continuing to mine a rich seam of music, it's followed by the marching drums of DenzalParl's 'Militia,' TedNilsson's heart-pounder 'Runaway' and the big-room culture of FeddeLeGrand & PatricLa Funk's 'Autosave' - all of which nitro-inject the mix. Hardcoding the event's dance-DNA, you'll also find Dahlback's high-wire tense 'Feel It,' 'Work Hard, Play Hard,' Tiesto's weekender-aimed anthem and DadaLife's deliciously looping (and loopy) 'Cookies With A Smile' all continue to flesh out the event's ethos.
From its outset fisc 2 sets about securing Energy's groove credentials and ensures those quotas are kept sky-high! Building more house rhythms into the mix are EDX'S 'D.A.N.C.E.', the warped bass of Chris Lake & Michael Woods' 'Domino's and the big piano drop moment of JeromeIsma-Ae and DanielPortman's 'Flashing Lights.' The mix's midpoint lets loose the first-time collaboration of MarcoV and MarcelWoods. The team behind 'Scream' team have watched a litany of DJs rally to their track's cause, turning it into one of 2012's first must-owns. As the disc reaches its conclusion, the nu-skool performs a takeover.
The electro-bounce of Joey Suki's 'Zomp,' Ostahnhof&UgoPlatana's 'Evensong' (in its drum-dramatic MichaelWoods remix form) and the whooping uprush of Tim Mason album endgame 'Anima' collectively, conclusively seal Energy's audio-ideology.
Every bit your gateway to spring's arena season (and beyond), ID&T's 'Energy 2012 - The Album' is a future-perfect vision of the pulse-quickening floor anthems coming our way this year.
Forward thinking dance denizens, buckle up and get your clubbing shoes on! It's going to get a whole lot fiercer before it gets any calmer!

Hardwell is back at it with a new & fully banging track for us. Titled 'Munster' this song truly lives up to every implication of its name. A filthy progressive house tune that seamlessly transitions pounding bass into a beautiful synth build up before slamming you in the face with a massive break down at 3:40 [patience is key as there are several distinct elements]. Close your eyes, lean back, and turn your speakers all the way up, as this one will take you right to the fields of Tomorrowland - sure to be a festival anthem! Cheers
