VICE LAUNCHES ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC & CULTURE CHANNEL “THUMP”

Today VICE, the global youth media company, cements its status as the world’s premier producer of supreme online video content, diving into the world of electronic dance and culture to launch THUMP, a new platform and YouTube channel, in partnership with Recreation Worldwide.

The channel brings together leading global youth brand VICE with one of the most prominent forces in electronic dance music, Recreation Worldwide, a creative agency founded by top industry veterans from AM Only and Complete Control Management. THUMP boasts exclusive access to the most important artists and trends at the forefront of electronic dance music, and leverages VICE’s established global audience, expertise in online video, and family of top-ranking YouTube channels.

With a focus on the full range of electronic music and culture, from massive festival stages to renegade warehouse parties, THUMP will chronicle every aspect of the global dance music movement: the music, the artists, the fans, the experience. Through original videos from the most electrifying events around the globe, to weekly music video premieres, mixes from the most forward-thinking DJs, and an engaging slate of editorial features, THUMP offers a unique portal into the culture of electronic music.

THUMP is a strategically designed premier platform for a wide array of partnership opportunities, artists and brands to reach audiences in new and compelling ways. The channel debuts with The Arrival, a new series celebrating the journeys of some of THUMP's favorite DJs and producers, from their first connection with electronic music to arriving to perform on the world's biggest stages. Produced with assistance from THUMP launch partner Heineken and the new Star Bottle, The Arrival features names from across the electronic music sphere, from Claude VonStroke to Just Blaze, 12th Planet, and DJ Craze.

THUMP will debut high-quality franchises, original documentaries, new music videos, and exclusive insights from a broad spectrum of electronic dance music artists including Dada Life, Richie Hawtin, Baauer, Bingo Players, Above and Beyond, Pretty Lights, Ali Love, Tiga, Kevin Saunderson, Tommy Trash, Clockwork, 2 Bears, DJ Shadow, Araabmuzik, Claude VonStroke, Kill The Noise and more, while empowering artists to create and develop new projects for a rapidly growing audience.

THUMP launches with a dedicated website, THU.MP, and official YouTube channel, YouTube.com/thump, joining VICE Media’s growing slate of official YouTube channels. EXCLUSIVE ARTIST CONTENT

THUMP is home to the best and most exclusive artist content, including taking fans on tour with their favorite artists, behind the scenes looks at the creative process, and the creation of cutting edge live production.  Kicking off with the full length documentary 'Seven Days in Dada Land', in which Dada Life take a fan on the road for one week of the Dada Land Tour, filming everything that transpired on and off-stage and telling the bizarre story of what happened.

Each week, THUMP explores the warehouses, lofts, and DIY underground scenes, beginning with a four-part look into Brooklyn’s thriving underground.

WHAT IS ______ ANYWAY?

Each week our host loiters outside different nightclubs, underground parties, and music festivals, asking club-goers to describe what they just heard.  THUMP deconstructs everything from genres like house, techno, and trap, to the more obscure witch house.

OTHERWORLD

Partying out of bounds, THUMP takes viewers on an immersive experience through far flung locations pushing the boundaries of the live event experience. Otherworld's first episode, The Apocalypse, brings us to Playa Del Carmen for the Day Zero, celebrating the prophesied Mayan end of days.

For nearly two decades, ID&T’s Mysteryland has been THE outstanding highlight of the Dutch festival season. This year, on August 25th 2012, the nineteenth edition of the globally celebrated one-day event will once again take place at the stunning 163 acre space that is Floriade terrain, just a stone’s throw from the nation’s capital, Amsterdam. With even more investment, time and effort pumped into every last detail than ever before – including flawless production and beautiful art installations, to world-beating lineup, mind-blowing new stage designs and surprises galore – Mysteryland 2012 is guaranteed to be a sure-fire sell out.

Due to the sheer demand expected both internationally and domestically this year, ID&T have opted for a ‘first come first served’ queuing system powered by ticketing partner ‘Paylogic’, who’ve a proven track record in dealing with events of this size. The queue will start at 10.00AM (as soon as tickets go on sale), and the website will keep track of your position in line.   Lineup

This year sees the addition of the brand new and super massive ‘ Big Top’, the biggest tent ID&T have ever used. Inside, some of the hottest names in electronica will be tending to the decks and shaking Mysteryland to its very core. A-List guests in the brand new ‘Big Top’ will include Swedish wunderkind Avicii, Belgian brothers Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, French house maestro Martin Solveig and Holland’s very own Hardwell. The closing of Mysteryland each year is always one of the many highlights where no expense is spared; the man honoured with the task of closing The Big Top is the nation’s favourite - the one and only Fedde le Grand.

The remainder of Mysteryland’s twelve stages are marked by diversity. A-Trak presents his Fools Gold Clubhouse stage with guests including Fake Blood, Tiga and Riton, while Loco Dice, Reboot and Simian Mobile Disco will be headlining the new open air Monade Stage; there’s Drum & Bass by UK bass legend Goldie; techno by stars such as Jeff Mills and Speedy J; the all time favourite Dirty Dutch Stage with music provided by the likes of Chuckie, Zedd, Dillon Francis and Porter Robinson; hardstyle from Headhunterz and Zany; deep house by Seth Troxler, Subb-an and Laura Jones…the list of international and homegrown heroes goes on and on!   The Mysteryland Experience

Aside from delivering a truly world class lineup of musical talent year-in year-out, Mysteryland is renowned for being a creatively diverse, forward-thinking and above all BEAUTIFUL festival that dedicates extensive effort and resources towards creating truly magical and breathtaking surroundings for it’s guests. Revelers can feel free to dive into a plethora of workshops and other interactive activities to pass the time, should the music get too much. So you can either dance into the night, or let your creativity flow; or both, it’s up to you!

  Tree House Festival

This year Mysteryland organizers are creating a spectacular Tree House Festival comprising multiple canopy-high hangouts where party people can climb into, chill out and enjoy small concerts, spoken word performances and much more. This is a first for any dance festival in the world and it’s shaping up to be a jaw dropping addition!

  Sustainability

Every year, Mysteryland producers ID&T NL work exceptionally hard to inspire all of their visitors and partners into embracing more environmentally sustainable lifestyles. With a solid aim to raise environmental consciousness among future generations, the festival is at the forefront of the industry when it comes to all things ‘green’.

   Food

Mysteryland offers a wide range of culinary delights; from pizza to pancakes, tapas to Mexican, vegetarian, vegan and organic; anybody who’s been to Mysteryland in the past can vouch for the fact that this festival has it all when it comes to cuisine. Another first this year is the introduction of the Bollywood snack bar 'Oelalal Masala Dosa' – providing yet more diversity for those in need of a bite to eat.

   Sleeping Packages

Just like years gone by, Mysteryland 2012 are providing some pretty amazing Sleepover Packages for its international guests – and some of the really lazy Dutch ones too! All packages include a full Mysteryland day pass, transfer to and from the festival, as well as access to the super secret after party in Amsterdam. Accommodation differs between just one overnight stay in a nearby hotel, to bungalows for you and your friends near the beach. For the first time this year they have also included the option of flights from London, Oslo and Copenhagen, so if all you want to do is party and think about nothing else – you can let them plan your entire trip!
