 Juicy Beach 2013

Robbie and Monica Rivera announce today the phase one lineup for Juicy Beach – taking place Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the world famous Nikki Beach during WMC / MMW.  Juicy Beach is always one of the standout attractions amongst a week celebrating the global dance scene and the 2013 event is no exception. The first in a series of line-up reveals leading up to the party, we’re now able to announce that in addition to a performance from Robbie Rivera, Juicy Beach will include sets from Bob Sinclar, Cosmic Gate, Moguai, Manufactured Superstars, Nari & Milani, Stefano Noferini, Manuel De La Mare and Federico Scavo who will play alongside all star talent to be announced in the coming weeks.

Since 2005, Robbie Rivera and his wife and business partner, Monica, have been the driving forces behind the world-renown Juicy Beach party at WMC in Miami each March. The 17-hour events at Nikki Beach Club attract a cast of over 5500 clubbers as well as A-list DJs, and the party has gone on to become one of the week's most successful events. From 2006 to 2008 Juicy Ibiza parties at Amnesia (sponsored by Armani Exchange) and Privilege in Ibiza & Catwalk in Barcelona welcomed over 6,000 clubbers. To date Juicy Beach has featured a who’s who of DJ talent including Kaskade, Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Axwell, Sander van Doorn, Steve Angello, Mark Knight, Dirty South, Sebastian Ingrosso, Laidback Luke, Joachim Garraud, Thomas Gold and George Acosta, among others.

To coincide with Juicy Beach 2013, Robbie Rivera has launched an online competition seeking out a hot new dance music talent that he can showcase at Juicy Beach and through his Juicy Music label. The Grand Prize winner will receive the opportunity to play along side Robbie and other international DJ talent at Juicy Beach on March 21, 2013 plus the chance to show off those production skills with their very own release on Juicy Music. Robbie isn’t looking for some last minute opening DJ, but a rather a new talent to showcase prominently at the Juicy Beach event and on all promotional materials. Miami is Robbie’s hometown, so you gotta work your ass off THAT much harder to win it.

To enter, aspiring producers and DJs are invited to submit an original remix of Robbie’s track, “Makes Me Feel Good” along with their best 15-minute mix that incorporates their remix to www.talenthouse.com/perform-juicy-beach. Stems for “Makes Me Feel Good” are available here. Submissions are open until February 10, 2013 with a one-week voting period taking place between February 11 and February 18. Robbie Rivera will personally choose the Grand Prize Winner while the fans will choose the runner up. Winners will be announced on February 26, 2013.  Click here to review the guidelines and submit your work.

There’s a lot in the works for 2013 including the first ever Juicy World Tour that commences this weekend at Pacha in New York City. After successfully bringing Juicy Beach to New York City’s Governors Island (the first North American Juicy Beach show outside of Miami), Robbie’s decided to bring Juicy themed parties directly to fans across North America.  Look out for addition tour dates and the Juicy Beach Phase Two lineup coming soon

Introducing… SMG: The Schulz Music Group

Schulz Music Group (SMG)

Last Monday night at Dream, on Miami's South Beach, Markus Schulz's Coldharbour Records event became the early toast of the Winter Music Conference 2012. Playing to a packed house of trance and electronic dance devotees, it presented another pinpoint sharp showcase of the label's inimitable, much-celebrated sound. It was against the backdrop of the night, and WMC '12 at large, that Markus chose to make official details of his new music venture. Under Dream's roof, all assembled together for the first time were the enterprise's debut signings. This allowed Markus to formally announce the creation of the Schulz Music Group.

A year in planning and development, SMG has been conceived to provide a to-the-next-level platform for producers sharing similar musical aims and directions to Markus. He goes on to explain: "since the launch of Coldharbour I've been very lucky to work with some exceptionally gifted and driven people. Feeling this way, it's natural to want to get as many as possible to the next level and put them into contention as a fully-fledged electronic dance music star of tomorrow. That, in a nutshell, is the objective here so I decided to launch the Schulz Music Group as a means to do that. WE approached 3 artists with an offer to become part of it. Between them, KhoMha, Mr. Pit, and Grube & Hovsepian have built numerous tracks that I fuel floors with wek in, week out. I believe they exhibit dynamic and forward-thinking musical inclination and as such represent the perfect launch collective. I'm delighted to say that those guys have come on board with SMG at this time and I'm very much looking forward to helping guide and mentor these producers/DJs! I see Schulz Music Group as every bit a long-term, talent-house project. I'm very excited to see where we can take them over the coming months and years... So I'd like you to meet SMG's first intake!"

KhoMha: Barely 18 months into his professional career, KhoMha's music has already sent shockwaves through electronic dance music circles. The effect of his widely embraced audio has latterly been amplified by  run of dexterous, electrifying turntable performances. For visiting big name DJs to his native Columbia, he has become the warm-up man of choice, regularly rocking the sound-systems at clubs like Forum, Carnival, Wild, La Kasa, Mistica, and Envy. Markus says: "KhoMha has that rare ability to produce music that appeals to an exceptionally broad span of EDM spinners. With guys like David Guetta and the Swedish House Mafia tuned into his sound and all over his tracks and remixes, he has cross-party appeal and this is without a doubt a huge asset."

Mr. Pit: He's known to his friends as Adrian Ivan, but it's under his artist name, Mr. Pit that he's spent the last 5 years delivering one immense track after another to the world's dance floors. Having already broken out of his native Romania as a DJ, he's smashed colossal festivals like Sunrise and Global Gathering in Poland and brought floor uproar to clubs like Avalon in the US, X2 in Indonesia, Russia's Matrix, and GodsKitchen in the UK. On welcoming him to the Schulz Music Group, Markus says: "with over a dozen tracks released on the label, Mr. Pit is a near distillation of Coldharbour's current sound and is certainly a key contributor to its make-up. He brings eclecticism and imagination to his music and DJ sets and that's standing him in excellent stead."

Grube & Hovespian: G&H came into being in 2008 when Florida-based producer Tim Grube reached out to LA-based Mike Hovespian. Having heard Schulz playing Mike's tracks on his Global DJ Broadcast show, Tim had picked up on the Coldharbour-edged themes contained in his solo productions. Recognizing a like-mind, he suggested an east-to-west spanning partnership - a challenge that Mike readily accepted. "Tim Grube has been my right-hand-guy for many years and understands as much as anyone about what makes me tick musically," says Schulz. "When he teamed up with Mike Hovsepian, I immediately saw that they'd found a connection that was going to work for them both. For me, they have become the most exciting duo to come along in the past 3 years."

Having already become one of th emost talked about tracks during Schulz's Los Angeles' 12 gigs last month, Mr Pit's 'Monsi' scored a 5/5 review in Mixmag, with the magazine saying it was "definitely one of the most creative releases around at the moment." KhoMha's 'Mind Garner' was similarly praised in their March issue, marking the track up as "confident, convincing audio" and one that was "smoking hot." Giving it 8.5/10 DJ Magazine meanwhile noted that "from its intricate drum and percs programming to the whip-quick mod flips in that least expected places, there's far more going on here than first meets the ear." Grube & Hovsepian have come in for much praise too with Mixmag describing 'City of Angels' as "peak time combustion" and their forthcoming 'Venom' (featuring singer Tiffany Johnston) "never less than enthralling."

Dance Music’s Biggest Names Battle It Out On The Soccer Field During Miami Music Week

WMC Soccer Game

Miami Music Week has traditionaly been a time for the world's best DJs to come together under the Miami sun to showcase their skills behind the decks. This year, they'll also be showcasing their skills on the soccer field! As I write this post, teams comprised of top talent representing the Netherlands and Sweden are facing off for charity and the fight against AIDS.

The kill is incomparable as Dutch captain Tiesto leads his teammates Afrojack, Nicky Romero, Quintino, Sidney Samson, R3hab, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano against Swedish captain Sebastian Ingrosso and his teammates Alesso, Adrian Lux, Dada Life (Stefan and Olie), AN21, and Otto Knows. The game will consist of two 30-minute periods with a ten minute break in between.

Each team will play in the signature colors of their country and will have a custom jersey made especially for this event. At the end of the game each jersey will be signed by each participant in the game and auctioned by (RED) with all proceeds going to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. (RED) is currently focusing its efforts on helping to end the transmission of HIV from moms to their babies by 2015, one of the markers of "the beginning of the end of AIDS." For more details about the auction follow (RED) on Twitter @joinred.

The game will be filmed, with highlights and interviews with the players going live on (RED)'s Youtube Channel the following week. **We'll be sure to keep you posted when those go viral**

Let the debate begin... who will win dance music's ultimate battle of bragging rights - Team Netherlands or Team Sweden?

ROSTERS

2011 was another stellar year for MYNC. Their massive "Don't Be Afraid" (with Ron Carroll & Dan Castro) was played a staggering three weeks in a row by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show, while official remixes of Avicii's anthem "Fade Into Darkness," ATB with Amurai feat. Melissa Loretta's "Heartbeat, Jason Derulo's "Fight For You," and Azari & Ill's "Reckless With Your Love" all received widespread acclaim. 2012 is already looking jam-packed for the London based producers with gigs lined up in Australia, Brazil, Spain, Portugal & the US and more productions and remixes on the way.

Nicky Romero can also look back at the last 12 months with satisfaction. 2011 saw Nicky release a string of Club Bombs that just got better and better as the year progressed. Any DJ will testify that his original tracks such as "Camorra" and "Toulouse" or remixes of Green Velvet, Tiesto, Flo-Rida and David Guetta will tear off the roof in any club. MYNC and Nicky Romero will celebrate the release of this compilation with a massive party in South Beach during Miami Music week. More info to come on that.
