SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA to Give Final West Coast Performances at MASQUERADE MOTEL — Important Event Info
It's almost time....... Los Angeles State Historic Park will host Swedish House Mafia’s highly-anticipated Masquerade Motel concert event on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th! This massive show will feature Swedish House Mafia’s final West Coast performances as well as an all-star lineup of special guests including Nero, Alesso, Zedd, An21, Max Vangeli and much more.
The Saturday show is sold-out and tickets are going fast for the Friday performance. Given the very large fan turnout anticipated – up to 70,000 people over the course of both days -- park and city officials strongly urge fans to take note of the following information:
ARRIVE EARLY TO AVOID MISSING ANY OF THE SHOW! With such a high attendance expected fans that don’t plan on getting to the venue early stand a great risk of missing the concert.
Doors will open at 2 PM. The show will start at 3:30 PM. Detailed set times are listed below
Metro is a great way to get to the show, and is free for all ticketholders (on day of show). Why drive when you can ride! Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) service is a convenient alternative, and is free for all Masquerade Motel ticketholders on show day. All fans need is their concert ticket (a receipt will suffice for Metro riders picking up tickets at will call).
Getting there is easy on the Metro Gold Line. Fans can take the Gold Line to the Chinatown Station (901 N Spring St, Los Angeles 90012) and then walk a short distance to the Los Angeles Historic State Park. Fans can also take the Blue Line, Red Line subway or the new Expo Line to connect. The Chinatown Station adjacent to the park is served by Metro Bus lines 81, 83 and 84.
Trains run every 12 minutes throughout the day and every 20 minutes after 7 p.m. The last train northbound to Pasadena-bound stations departs the Chinatown Station at 2:14 a.m. The last train southbound to Little Tokyo and East L.A. stations departs the Chinatown Station at 2:05 a.m. and connects to the last Red Line train at Union Station at 2:12 a.m. The last southbound train to Union Station departs at 2:33 a.m. Plan your best route using the Trip Planner at metro.net. A map showing Metro routes and parking locations is included below.

For fans driving to the venue, heavy traffic and congested streets are anticipated at and around the venue for this show. Arrive at venue early to help avoid traffic delays. Fans are encouraged to check traffic patterns before getting on the road in order to plan their route. Go to: www.sigalert.com and www.511.com.
Since there are multiple routes to L.A. State Historic Park by car, fans need to take note of directional signage and freeway message boards. Los Angeles Department of Transportation and the Los Angeles Police Department will deploy throughout the area and will update freeway signage to help direct fans to the venue as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Carpooling is strongly encouraged. The small difference between four versus three people riding per car results in thousands of fewer vehicles on the road, greatly streamlining traffic and parking, not to mention reducing harmful exhaust emissions. Plus, carpooling offers attendees a lower-cost option.
While L.A. State Historic Park does not have any parking on-site, several public lots are located nearby.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early and catch a screening of the Swedes’ 2010 documentary Take One in the Masquerade Motel Ballroom. Filmed over the course of 2 years, 253 gigs and 15 countries by directors Christian Larson and Henrik Hanson, Take One offers fans an unprecedented look at Swedish House Mafia on stage and behind the scenes. Fans can also enjoy free popcorn while watching the movie.
In addition to enjoying Take One and getting earlier entry to the show, early arriving fans will get a first look at tour merchandise. Restrooms will also be available at various locations immediately outside the venue prior to doors.

Keeping it going... Just last week, Swedish House Mafia announced that a 2nd ticket auction would be held for their Black Tie Rave charity event being held Feb. 28th at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The newly released tickets will be up for auction starting this Friday, February 1st at 10am EST via Ticketmaster with proceeds going to support Save the Children’s initiative to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in America, where nearly one in four lives in poverty. In the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14th, the organization is calling for a National Commission on Children that will address the issues of violence, mental health and poverty. The first round of tickets were auctioned off in December and with under a third of the tickets sold, an astonishing $447,000 was raised for the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund in support of hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
It was also confirmed that Pete Tong will fly in to support Swedish House Mafia at this special event alongside Carl Kennedy!
Anticipation for One Last Tour has been building stateside since the dates were announced last year. The originally announced U.S. dates all sold out in minutes causing the group to add multiple shows. The tour has become one of the biggest tours of the year and is the group’s most extensive outing ever. Most shows are now sold out however fans can still purchase tickets for shows on Feb. 17th in San Francisco and March 8th Masquerade Motel in Los Angeles.
The full line up for One Last Tour was revealed last week. The massive outing started in November in Dubai and has made stops throughout India, Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, South Africa and will visit Australia and Mexico before reaching the states Feb. 13th. The North American leg will hit San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, NYC, LA and Miami. It. was announced last month that the final curtain call for One Last Tour will happen at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, marking a significant milestone in the group’s career together. Ultra is where Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso played their first festival headline in North America. They will play both the opening night of the festival on March 15th and the closing on March 24th in what is sure to be an emotional farewell to the group’s millions of fans across the globe and promises to create unrivalled memories for fans and the group alike. Zedd Feat Foxes – Clarity (Acoustic Version)
I brought you his debut album a while back, and now I bring you the latest masterpiece from Zedd. His newest video is an acoustic version of his album's title track, Clarity (Feat. Foxes). This simplified version is nothing short of spectacular. This track showcases not only his incredible talent and creativity in music, but also his extreme versatility as a rising producer. Not much else needs to be said for this one, hit play immediately, and unwind.
Zedd – Clarity (full album review & preview)
Dear World,
I just want to apologize for sleeping on this so long. I also apologize for the lengthy, and detailed review you are about to receive. It is not often I will do an album review (especially since artists don't do "albums" anymore), but as a music purist, I could not let this gem slip through the cracks.
Clarity, is the debut album from 23 year old Anton Zaslavski, better known as Zedd. It is a unique, eclectic mix of music that draws heavily on experimental sounds and the movement through them. Every track has the ebb and flow of a full album (especially Epos), each twisting and winding through its own ethereal wonderland of sound. This isn't what you'd expect from someone who brought us one festival ready banger after the next for the longest time, but I'm glad this is what has been presented. The tracks have a presence similar to those by Porter Robinson, and show incredible growth from when he first leapt onto the scene a couple years ago. The trance element that each infuses into their hard, electro based tracks gives them new life in today's EDM driven world. And that is extremely the case with each track here.
Clarity could not have been a more aptly chosen name for this album. It is as if it emerged from a place within Zedd that said "this, this is a new direction my music could be heading" and we all owe him for this moment of technical bliss. The production value here is so crisp, so clean, and draws heavily on sounds seemingly derived from classical music (a la Wolfgang Gartner). His influences are clearly wide, but the sound created is far and away his own.
This Is truly an album, something lost with electronic music. This is not just a collection of songs like we are used to. This is one of the most cohesive full length efforts I have heard in ages from an electronic artist, and to think, it's his first. While it is much more docile than we might want or expect, it contains all the elements that could lead to Best Breakout Artist, or even Album of the Year. It contains just enough pop elements to appeal to the masses, but isn't annoying. It is out there enough for the hardcore fans, but won't leave the others confused.
The stand out tracks here are the title track, Fall Into the Sky (feat. Ellie Goulding & Lucky Date), my personal favorite, and the obvious Spectrum (feat Matthew Koma).
While it may not be for everyone, it is definitely for me. Please, do yourselves a favor, and pick this one up however you should choose to do so (iTunes link and song previews below).
MUSIC MONDAY WRAP UP
Good afternoon folks and Happy Music Monday! With the heat finally hitting the west coast in full-flex , the summer EDM bangers have begun to pour in. Let's start things off with French prodigy, Madeon...He played two shows last night at the Wavehouse in San Diego and at the Yost Theatre in Orange County. Not only that, his new track, "Finale" also released yesterday. His monstrous releases and performances at EDC NY and Ultra are clearly the stepping stones that mark him down to be one of the next big producers of our generation. His nu-disco style combined with drum n bass have audiences grooving all night."Finale" is a track that is relatively slower-paced with some thumping drum work and powerful vocals showing how Madeon's production have matured in a limited span of time. Check it.
Next up...Tommy Trash's latest collaboration with German Electro House duo, Digitalism. "Falling" starts out with a heavy electro feel but gradually tones down into melodic synths. Trash's version provides his signature electro beats while leveling it up with the original sound.
Over the past year, many trance producers/djs have begun to incorporate electro house and dubstep beats in their music. Legendary Dutch producers, 4 Strings incorporate this Nu-Trance style in "The Other Side". The track progresses from fast deep electro into melodic piano synths that provide the big room house feeling.
4 Strings - The Other Side (Original Mix).mp3.
With the release of Zedd's "Spectrum" EP nearly a week away, he reveals the all-star lineup of DJ's that will be featured. Armin Van Buuren kicked things off when he played his remix on ASOT a couple of weeks ago. Next, Arty and Deniz Koyu provided their takes and now A-Trak, Clockwork, Gregory Klosman and Tristan Garner have all joined in on the list of collaborators. Nicky Romero has had a busy year with touring extensively and producing bangers after bangers collaborates with Zedd in "Human" and completes this dynamic EP. Available on Beatport July 31st.
And finally...today's biggest story. I woke up this morning and while I was browsing through my newsfeed on Facebook, I came across this wonderful article in Rollingstone. German producer Alex Ridha aka Boys Noize is BACK! The Hard Summer headliner has finally announced the October 2nd release of his third studio album-Out of the Black on his record label. The album's opening track "What you want" has the ""raw and rough sound" of his early music combining his signature robot vocal samples with old-school hip-hop beats, according to Ridha himself. Check the track and his entire interview with RollingStone right here.

Zedd- Spectrum (Arty Remix)
Zedd's latest production, "Spectrum" has been a popular festival banger. With a remix competition still in the works on Beatport and Trance master, Armin Van Buuren's putting out his jaw-dropping remix comes Russian prodigy, Arty. He gives us his signature big chord progression and HUGE HUGE HUGE euphoric synths take on what is guaranteed to be some major summer tunage! The song will be released July 31st on Beatport as part of the Spectrum-EP. Have a listen. Throw your fuckin' hands up and rage! It definitely gives Armin a run for his money!

MEOWINGTONS HAX TOUR TRAX + dj tools
With the Meowington Hax Tour taking off, Deadmau5 has released a collective album that includes a bunch of dirty tracks and remixes. If you're into producing and mixing definitely check out the kits below and throw them into your DAW n turn your speakers up.
"As Deadmau5 embarks upon the Meowingtons Hax North American tour alongside a host of the Mau5trap stable, the label head leads the charge with a brand new compilation. It features new and exclusive tracks from Deadmau5 himself and a host of the artists featuring on the tour, as well as a selection of tracks from new additions to the label that you can expect to hear a lot more from in the coming months. With contributions from Feed Me, Tommy Lee & Aero, Excision & Datsik, Zedd, Moguai, Al Bizzare and James Njie, this compilation is set to be the soundtrack to the tour carnage that will undoubtedly ensue. Opening with the insistent, driving powerhouse that is Where My Keys, an exclusive track from Deadmau5 himself, the compilation goes straight for the jugular. Moving through the jarring Cotts Face by Feed Me which fuses together glitchy drums and erratic synth lines and onto recent tour additions Tommy Lee & Aero the compilation doesnt hold up for a second as they deliver two fidgety electro house party starting tracks. Excision & Datsik turn up the heat with Deviance as grinding beats and growling basslines meet extra-terrestrial synth lines, proving once again why their star is most definitely in the ascendant. Zedds remix of Skrillex smash Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites channels the power of the original into a filthy 4x4 monster while Moguais Beat of The Drum surges forward on the elastic synths and rolling bass line with Sofi delivering her vocals with attitude.Upcoming Mau5trap artists Al Bizzare and James Njie also feature on the compilation. Al Bizzare brings Blast Wave to the table, a many-headed beast that switches up glistening synths and swelling bass and is in turns both euphoric and gritty. Rising talent James Njie rounds off the compilation in style, introducing himself with two futuristic progressive house tracks that are at once delicately nuanced and full of impact, speaking volumes of his talent. Mau5trap has grown exponentially since its inception in 2007 and become home to some of the most exciting electronic artists in the world. The new compilation features just some of the talent that the label champions and offers up a decisive musical statement whether you are going to the upcoming tour or not. To celebrate the release of the compilation, the Beatport version will come with selected track parts available for digital DJs giving them the chance to get creative. *The Meowingtons Hax tour runs from 11th August to 5th November, starting in Vancouver and ending in Toronto."
